RULES AND REGULATIONS

GOVERNING RULES AND REGULATIONS

The CEC Rules and Regulations, including the Tour de Bloc Rules, as they may be amended from time to time, shall govern all CEC Sanctioned Adult and Youth Competitions in Canada.

Events and Eligibility

Each calendar year there are several potential International Events to which the CEC sends National Teams (both Youth and Adult). The standard process for Team Selection in both Open and Youth is outlined below. There may be events that require changes to the standard Team Selection process because of increased or decreased athlete quotas. The Team Selection process for those events will be published as required.

Non-Canadians are welcome to the join the CEC and compete in all CEC sanctioned competitions, including the Canadian National Championships. However, only Canadian citizens may apply to represent Canada at International competitions. Dual citizens must decide which country they wish to represent. Once a dual citizen has competed for a country in an International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) sanctioned competition, regardless of the event (lead, bouldering or speed), they cannot compete for another country without special dispensation from the IFSC.

Competitors representing Canada at International competitions must hold a valid Canadian passport at the time they apply for a position to represent Canada.

Open vs. Youth Divisions

The CEC governs National Team selection and International licensing and competition for two divisions: Open (16 yrs and older) and Youth (19 yrs and younger). The Open and Youth Divisions of the CEC are separate entities, each with its own competition calendar and competitor rankings. Individuals aged 16-19 are both youth and open eligible. Only one membership required. For reasons of event logistics, these athletes may NOT compete in both Youth and Open divisions at the same event.
